Student Honors & Awards

 

The Department of Industry and Technology at Millersville University recognizes its exemplary students. Honors are available to students in all three of the programs offered by the department for undergraduate and graduate students. The awards and recognitions come from a variety of sources including Millersville University, professional organizations, educational organizations and industry.


Beginning Technology Education Majors

The Steinman foundations/Intelligencer Printing Freshman Scholarship

A $500 award administered by the Susquehanna Litho Foundation to a full-time freshman admitted into either the associate or baccalaureate degree programs in Industrial Technology or Technology Education with a demonstrated interest in graphic communication.

Technology Education Association of Pennsylvania William J. Wilkinson Scholarship
A $1000 cash award to promote the growth and leadership of prospective Technology Education Teachers. A high school senior or graduate who has been admitted to, but not enrolled in, Millersville University's undergraduate Technology Education teacher education program must submit an application to be considered. Recipient is selected by the Technology Education Association of Pennsylvania Scholarship Committee.


Enrolled Occupational Safety and Evnvironmental Health Students

American Society of Safety Engineers/Raymon C. Mullin Award

A cash award presented each semester by the Central Pennsylvania Chapter ASSE to a junior or senior majoring in Occupational Safety and Environmental Health. Recipients must have completed a minimum of 15 hours of occupational safety and hygiene courses and 12 hours of departmentally related courses with minimum quality point averages of 2.5 overall and 3.0 in health and safety management courses. Eligible student may apply for the award through the coordinator of the OSEH program.

American Industrial Hygiene Association Scholarship
Awarded to students who are majoring in Occupational Safety and Environmental Health or a related discipline and who have demonstrated a proclivity toward industrial hygiene.


Industrial Technology and Technology Education Majors

Paul W. Eshelman Memorial Scholarship
A cash award given to a junior Industrial Technology or Technology Education student for excellence in wood technology. Scholarship is to be paid upon the student's enrollment for the second semester on the senior year.

Henry j. Kauffman Award in Metal Technology
An award granted to a senior Industrial Technology or Technology Education student who in the opinion of the Industry & Technology faculty has attained distinguished achievement in metal technology.

Excellence in Printing Technology Award
A $200 cash award presented annually to a senior Industrial Technology or Technology Education student who possess a QPA of at least 3.0, consistently produces high quality work, displays innovative ideas, and demonstrates outstanding commitment to the printing profession. The recipient will be selected by the faculty of the Department of Industry & Technology.

The Steinman Foundation/Intelligencer Printing Upperclassman Scholarship
A $500 award administered by the Susquehanna Litho Foundation to a full-time junior or senior Industrial Technology - Graphic Communication or Technology Education major with a demonstrated performance in graphic communication and a 3.0 GPA in the major.

Outstanding Student in Instrumentation - Power Technology Award
A $500 cash award presented annually to a junior or senior Industrial Technology or Technology Education student who possesses a QPA of at least 3.0, committed to specializing in and demonstrating outstanding performance in Transportation, Energy and Power. The recipient will be selected by the faculty of the Department of Industry & Technology.


Technology Education Majors

J. Richard Steinmetz Technology Teaching Award
Awarded to a Technology Education senior who in the judgment of the Industry & Technology faculty has high potential to become a successful teacher as evidenced by outstanding performance in student teaching and excellence in professional and technical areas.

Burl N. Osburn Award
Awarded annually to a student who excels in Technology Education.

Philadelphia Alumni Award
An award granted yearly to a Technology Education major who demonstrates the best qualities of a technology teacher as recommended by the Industry & Technology faculty.


Industrial Technology Program Graduate

National Association of Industrial Technology Outstanding Industrial Technology Award
An award to recognize the performance of an outstanding Milleresville University graduate of Industrial Technology who is currently employed in a position which significantly impacts the success of the organization. Nominee must have graduated at least 10 years ago and must have held progressively responsible positions in business, industry or government. The recipient is nominated annually by the faculty of the Department of Industry & Technology and selected by the Industry Division of NAIT.


Technology Education Graduate Student

International Technology Education Association Spirit of Excellence Outstanding Graduate Student Citation
An award to recognize excellence in graduate-level scholarship and leadership potential in Technology Education. Recipient must be a professional member of the International Technology Education Association and enrolled in the Technology Education graduate program at Millersville University. The annual recipient is selected by the graduate faculty of the Department of Industry& Technology.
