the Saturday Express, Lancaster, Pa. 1851 The Lancaster newspaper, the Saturday Express in an editorial titled, "Civil War-The First Blow Struck," states, "The fruits of slavery and of the excitement rashly gotten up by those who denominate themselves the 'friends' of the Negroes, are beginning to ripen. The first murder fruit that has fallen in our Country from this tree of civil discord and evil, is one that has thrown the people into a fever heat of indignation." |
