German Hired as New Vice President

 

Robert (Chip) German Appointed as Vice President of Information Technology

On August 1, 2008, Robert F. (Chip) German Jr., will assume the position of vice president of information technology at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. German served as the vice president for information resources and chief information officer at the University of Mary Washington (UMW) in Virginia since 2002.   

“We’re pleased to have Mr. German on board,” said Francine G. McNairy, president of Millersville University.  “Chip’s work in higher education and IT expertise will be valuable assets to the University.”

German, who was selected after an extensive national search, has his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Virginia.  He held many positions at UMW including: director of the university news office, chief of staff to the president and director of policy and strategic planning for over nine years. German was appointed by the Governor of Virginia to the Commonwealth’s Council on Technology Services, has served on the board of trustees of the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library in Charlottesville, Va., and has been on many national program committees for EDUCAUSE, a non-profit organization whose goal is to advance higher education by promoting the use of information technology.

German will live in Lancaster County.
