MILLERSVILLE WRESTLERS WIN TWO AT EAST REGIONAL DUALS

Feb. 3 – The Millersville University wrestling team went 2-1-1 at the NCAA East Regional Duals this afternoon at Pucillo Gymnasium.

The Marauders (3-8-1) began the day with victories over Gardner-Webb (24-23) and Delaware State (27-17. After a bye in the third round, the Marauders tied Duquesne University (18-18) before falling to Liberty, which went 4-0 on the day, by a score of 38-10.

Jarrett Hostetter (jr. Oxford, Pa./Oxford HS) went 4-0 on the day for the Marauders. The 157-pounder recorded three pins and a 5-3 decision in overtime to improve his season record to 27-6.

John Heleniak (jr. Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh HS) also had a big day as he bumped up to the 197-pound slot from 174 pounds to fill a void left due to injury. Heleniak’s pin against Delaware State at the 4:29 mark cemented MU’s win over the Hornets. He also won a 9-3 decision in the match against Duquesne, which went 2-1-1 on the day.

Cody Becker, Dave Morey, Mike Greck, Steve Funk, Matt Leggett and Jeremy Brooks also won matches for the Marauders on Sunday.

Millersville will return to dual meet action on Thursday at Kutztown.

Delaware State went 1-3 at the duals while Gardner-Webb went 0-4.
