Developing Student Leaders through High and Low Ropes Facilitation (K-12)





A.  Primary Course Objectives

Upon completion of this workshop, the student will be able to:

1. Tie basic knots and understand their uses
2. Safely set up a high and low ropes course
3. Assess the safety requirements for each activity
4. Ensure for physical, mental and emotional safety of any and all participants in a ropes course experience
5. Lead small groups in both high and low ropes course activities
6. Implement activities that are appropriate for each stage of the ropes course experience
7. Implement activities that develop team building skills within a group
8. Assist groups in applying learned lessons to actual life experiences

C.  Course Requirements and Evaluations
 

Students will be evaluated on the following criteria:

1. Involvement in class and group discussions
2. Practical examination in setting up and taking down elements
3. Practical examination in facilitating both high and low elements
4. Completion of a workshop journal

The workshop will be graded on a pass/fail basis.
