Industrial internship combines the student's academic, technical and management preparation with actual on-the-job experiences in industrial enterprises. Industrial internships have a significant management component in that students are required to engage in management-related activities such as planning, organizing, directing, and controlling at the workplace. The student, the employer, and the Department of Industry and Technology faculty work cooperatively to assure the internship experience achieves the best possible learning value.

On Friday November 30th the Technology Education Collegiate Association Chapter at Millersville University held its annual Toys-for-Tots event. Each year the student group organizes an evening when anyone on the Millersville campus can come in to help make wooden toys that will be donated to the local Toys-for-Tots organization. This year’s event made 25 wooden ducks that waddle down an inclined plane. Throughout the two-hour event students gave of their time. Approximately 35-40 participants played some part toward making the toys. The students prepared all of the raw material, cut out all of the parts, assembled the ducks, and made the packaging for the final toy. The pictures show examples of students involved in each of these stages of the event. The event was coordinated by one of the group’s faculty advisors, Dr. Scott Warner and a committee of student volunteers.

The NAIT student chapter attended the 2007 National Association of Industrial Technology (NAIT) 40th annual conference in Panama Beach City, Florida October 23 – 27, 2007. They competed against some of the finest technology schools in the country. The NAIT team won 1st place for Best Poster, 1st place in Electrical/Control Methodology, and 3rd place in the overall robotics competition. Besides the exciting robotics competition, students went head to head in an intense jeopardy style IT/IQ competition.

The NAIT conference provided members with presentations, workshops, tours and a chance to meet with professionals from all over the country. Pease visit the National Association of Industrial Technology, also called the MU’s NAIT Student Chapter, to learn more about them

Pictured below is Millersville's entery in a tele-operated and fully-autonomous robotic manipulator contest. Millersville's entry, the MF-1, was built in Millersville, PA requiring a great deal of research and development. The goal of the competition was for the manipulator to sense and find a magnet in the sand, and place a steel pin with the NAIT logo on it accurately at the location of the magnet.
