Hardware Requirements | Web Browsers
In addition to meeting or exceeding the hardware requirments, it is necessary that your computer have installed on it a few pieces of software. All of the required software is available for free on the web, and can be easily obtained by following the instructions and links on this page. You probably have at least some of the necessary software installed already.
If you are viewing these directions online, please bookmark this page now. During the installation of some of the following software packages, you may be required to close your browser or restart your computer. If you bookmark this page (or add it to your favorites) you will be able to easily find it again to finish installing the software you need. It is also recommended that you print out a copy of this page if you do not already have a printed copy.
Software Requirements
Student Browser: Mozilla Firefox
- Notes for Windows Users... Internet Explorer (7 and newer) is currently supported under limited conditions inside of Blackboard. Mozilla Firefox browser functions better when using discussion, and exam/quiz items.
- Notes for Apple Users... Safari is supported by Blackboard, but the Mozilla Firefox browser functions better when using chat, discussion, and exam/quiz items.
- Notes for AOL users... If you have AOL as your internet service provider, connect to the internet through AOL, but then minimize the AOL browser and use the Mozilla Firefox browser to access the Blackboard system.
