To prepare educators to facilitate an empowered & unified P-12 Learning Community to be successful in the world of people through respect, collaboration, mutuality, and the realization of each individual gift.

The Department of Special Education at Millersville University provides a variety of professional opportunities for students committed to the improvement of lifestyles for children, youth, and adults with disabilities.

Note: This program does NOT certify for visually/hearing impaired or communication disorders.

This certification offers great flexibility for work in the special education profession. It also presents a significant challenge to our staff to insure that our undergraduate students are competent to begin teaching in any of these areas.

Millersville also has a chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). CEC is the professional organization for special educators. This student group meets regularly and provides many opportunities for you to get involved with others interested in working with students with special needs.
